Mary Ann Williams was born November 27, 1935, in Climax, GA, the daughter of Ennis and Arie Faircloth Williams. She was a graduate of Climax High School, Class of 1955, and earned a certificate in secretarial science from Branell Institute. Known to most as Ann, she was a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud homemaker who put her heart into caring for her family.
Ann was never one to sit still for long. She worked alongside her family on the farm, taking care of the chores and doing her part to keep the farm going. At home, she was known for her cooking and keeping a good house. She loved picking fresh vegetables from her garden and putting them up for later, making sure there was always something good to eat. Ann also worked outside the home, serving as a telephone operator for Southern Bell Telephone Company, working at Abbey Eye Care in Quincy, FL, and later retiring from Thomasville Health Care.
Ann shared a close bond with her husband and children, and family remained an important part of her life. She enjoyed traveling to Titusville to visit family and taking trips to the beach, the mountains, and Virginia. Her years at Climax Methodist Church were also meaningful to her, where she served as church treasurer for many years. She was a longtime member of the Climax Community Club and stayed connected to the community she called home.
Survivors include her children, Al Hester, Jill Clark (Phillip), and Wendell Hester; her grandchildren, Allen, Brandie, Chelsea, Tabitha, Tiffany, and Trey; her seventeen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces & nephews; and a host of extended family. In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Bubber Hester; her siblings, J.E. Williams, Norwood Williams, Glenn Williams, Randall Williams, Katherine Self, Jerane Hunt, and Bonnie Newton; and her daughters-in-law, Patty Hester and Kristy Hester.
