Barbara Edmunds Adolph

Barbara Edmunds Adolph, 87, of LaVergne, TN, formerly of Cincinnati, OH, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2025.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Black Jack Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Black Jack Baptist Church Cemetery with Mark Miller, Jr., Brock Miller, Graham Miller, Jakobi Miller, Josiah Smith, and Thomas Adolph serving as active pallbearers.

Barbara Faith Edmunds was born July 20, 1937, in Berea, OH, the daughter of Owen & Prassie Long Edmunds. She was a graduate of Bainbridge High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Mercer University. Barbara married Robert Adolph in 1959, and they dedicated their lives to mission work in Bangladesh and Togo, West Africa. She was a member of First Baptist Church-Glen Este, Batavia, OH.

Children held a special place in Barbara's heart. Her giving spirit and call to impact young people led her to teach with Association of Baptists for World Evangelism (ABWE) for 51 years in addition to her work with Awana ministry, Heart House ministry, and camp ministry. Later in life, when Barbara was stateside, she enjoyed cheering for her great-grandchildren at soccer, volleyball, and other sporting events. Piano pieces and sewing projects filled her spare time. Barbara leaves a legacy of selfless giving, unconditional love, and unwavering faith.

Survivors include her children, Lynda & Greg King of LaVergne, TN, Stephen & Jill Adolph of Houston, TX, Richard & Julie Adolph of Cleveland, TN, and Cynthia & Jonathan Smith of Cincinnati, OH; her thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; her brothers, Harold Edmunds of Bainbridge and Richard Edmunds and his wife, Karen, of Florida; and a host of extended family. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Adolph, her brother, Larry Edmunds, and her granddaughter, Alicia Miller.
