Bobby Joe Grubbs was born July 22, 1938, in Hilton, GA, the son of Joe B. & Mattie Lewis Grubbs. He attended school in Miller County then went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Air Force. In 1958, the world changed for Bobby; he married the love of his life, Jane Cutts. He was an active member of First Church of the Nazarene, as many know this as his second home.

Bobby truly never met a stranger. His years at FRM opened new doors for friendship that spanned several counties. He was easy to find because he was always at home, at church, or visiting. Like clockwork, Sundays and Tuesdays he made the rounds at the hospital and nursing home.

He was often described as a “friend to all”. Bobby never tired of talking about the family he loved so dearly. They are indeed his pride & joy and filled his life with happiness. He loved nothing more than a gathering (which was never actually small), hunting, fishing, or whatever else the grandchildren had on the agenda. He prayed for them daily and especially when they were traveling. He only rested when he knew they were safely back home. Being in a crowd was right up his alley; the more people to talk to, the better. His favorite questions were: Where do you go to church? and Are you saved?

Survivors include his wife of almost 67 years, Jane Cutts Grubbs; his children, Randall Grubbs (Kitty), Bobby J. “Corky” Grubbs, Jr. (Susan), Teresa G. Lashley (Ronny), and Cecilia G. Messer (Scott); his grandchildren, B.J. & Beth, Cassie, Brooke & Bradley, Preston & Kate, Mark & Lindsey, Skeeter, Cecil, Reba, Patricia & Kalvin, Jessica & Jock, Phillip, Mandi & Brian, and David & Stanzi; his great-grandchildren, Logan, Will, Brantley, Knox, Ripp, Messer, Ridge, Jack, Graham, Levi, Claudia, Diego, Tori, Damien, Xavier, Lexi, Otto, Braxton, Raionna, Trey, Astrid, Ryles, Kaylee, Keitlyn, Gabe, and Ceira; his siblings, Marion Grubbs (Lennis), Jacky Grubbs (Diane), Rev. David Grubbs (Linda), Joe B. Grubbs, Jr. (Elaine), Mary L. Williams, and Rita Furney (Rawleigh); and his sister-in-law, Gail Grubbs West. In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his siblings, Donald Grubbs, Danny Grubbs, and Debra Mills.
