Cherry Hill Douglas

Cherry Lynne (Hill) Douglas departed this good green earth on April 9, 2025. Born in Winchester, Kentucky, June 21, 1956, she made her home in both Bainbridge, Ga and Tallahassee, Fl. for 54 of her 68 years. She was the second daughter of Lois Mae Ray Hill (1929-1984) and Reverend Henry Hill (1927-2009), the paternal granddaughter of Tula Ophelia Birdsong Hill and Jesse Monroe Hill of LaGrange, Ga, and the maternal granddaughter of Lois Ray Smyth and Robert Leroy Ray of Jacksonville, Fl.

Cherry never met a stranger. As a result, she knew a little (and sometimes a lot) about many. She loved to talk on the telephone. It came as no surprise when she and her former husband, Bob, owned and operated Capital Cellular during the 1990s-2000s. She had a creative knack for crafts and made everything from Cabbage Patch Kids to wreaths, floral arrangements, curtains, and pillows. She loved dogs and over the years she sheltered quite a menagerie: two Labrador Retrievers both named Lucy, multiple Boston Terriers, and, later Boscoe and Cutie. If she had to give, she gave to those in need. She was a lifelong Presbyterian, and served in a number of capacities, most recently as a Deacon at Christ Presbyterian Church in Tallahassee, Fl.

Cherry is survived by her daughter, Amanda Rebecca Douglas Eaton (Mandy), her grandson, Greyson Robert Eaton (Grey) both of Tallahassee, FL, her sister Dianne Hill Hayter of Reidsville, NC, her lifelong friend and former husband Robert E. Douglas, III (Bob) of Tallahassee, FL, numerous cousins, primarily in the Jacksonville, Florida area, and friends from her church and living community. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her son, Robert E. Douglas IV (Rob) who died in 2001.

In lieu of flowers, should you feel so inclined, please make contributions in Cherry's memory to the mental health and/or to substance abuse organization of your choice or to the second Harvest of the Big Bend, Tallahassee, FL.
