Clinton Michael "Mike" Barnett

Clinton Michael Barnett (Mike), 65, of Bainbridge GA, passed away surrounded by love the morning of February 26th 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mike was born December 5th 1956 at the US Naval Base in Jacksonville, FL. He moved to Italy as a child before settling down in Vero Beach, FL with his mother, who helped cultivate his love for the outdoors and music. One of his favorite places was the ocean. He loved surfing and beach combing, which was evidenced by his collection of shells, feathers and other oddities. When the family moved to Georgia in the 70's and not near a beach, his instinct to notice the small things most would overlook, was strong. He enjoyed bird watching and was fascinated by even the smallest wonders of nature. Mike had a love and respect for all animals, great and small. Canoeing down Spring Creek was one of his favorite activities.

Mike was a skilled carpenter who worked hard at his trade, building and renovating homes for many years. Most importantly, to everyone that knew him, he was a talented drummer and singer who loved jamming with fellow musicians or even alone, every chance he got. Music was a huge part of his life, and when he wasn't playing and belting out tunes, he spent time listening to his extensive vinyl collection, or watching music documentaries and performances. His home was constantly filled with the sounds of blues or classic rock. He always found a way to add a beat to a song and would add percussion to an acoustic jam session even if he had to utilize a stock pot. He loved learning about history and travel and watched Jeopardy religiously every weekday. On the best nights, friends would join in trivia fellowship. He loved playing horseshoes, frisbee and darts with his friends. The simplest pleasures brought great joy to Mike and he was always the life of the party. He was an entertainer at heart and his clever jokes and comedic timing was unmatched. If you were one of the lucky ones, you got to see his Red Skelton impression in all its glory.

While he loved being around others, his family and friendships were the highlight of his life. His demeanor and pleasant personality was contagious to everyone he was around. Mike would give the shirt off his back to help you but expected nothing in return. He was humble, kind, and honest in everything he did. His graciousness was immense, and if you ever did anything for him, you would think you hung the moon.

Mike truly was (and always will be) a great example of how to live a life with simplicity, love and courage.

Mike is survived by his two children, Eva Fletcher and Toby Barnett, mother Suzanne Pace (Jim), stepfather Bob McGraw (Carol), biological father Clinton Barnett, siblings Sean McGraw (Karly), Brian McGraw, Jay Barnett, Kara Barnett, grandchildren Ryker, Ian, and Nolan Fletcher, several nieces and nephews, and a multitude of close friends he considered family as well.
