Don Curtis Wacaser was born July 20, 1935, in Newton, GA, the son of John & Tilda Kelley Wacaser. He was a graduate of West Bainbridge High School, Class of 1953. He married Norma Heard in 1952, and they made their home in Southwest Georgia. Curtis retired as vice-president & plant manager from Southeastern Minerals. He was a charter member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
Curtis was an astute businessman who supported and engaged in all aspects of agriculture. His faith was most important, followed closely by his love for family, including his church family. Setting an example for others, Curtis always put others first.
He enjoyed fishing for speckled perch and following that with a fish fry, noting that any fish would fry just as well. Though he was a man of few words, friends and family fondly remember his famous line, "Is that right?" in conversations over the years.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Norma Wacaser; his children, Johnny & Sharon Wacaser; his grandchildren, LeighAnn & Nic; his great-grandchildren, Paxton & Grayson; his siblings, Steve Wacaser (Eloise), Carolyn Mock (Dennis), and H.H. Wacaser; his sister-in-law, Emma Wacaser; many nieces & nephews as well as extended family. In addition to his parents, Curtis was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Dale Wacaser, and his siblings, Charlie Wacaser, Vondell Wacaser, W.A. Wacaser, Sterling Wacaser, Mavis Powell, Jean Hall, and Johnnie Thelma Wacaser.
The Wacaser Family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Georgia Hospice, especially Danny Stephens, and his daily caregivers, Pearl Bradley, Angie Brown, Irene Franklin, Emma Frazier, and Nancy Ingram, for their kind and compassionate care.
