Manuel Catuira Tanjuatco was born July 10, 1941, in Tanay, Philippines, the son of Emilio & Magdalena Catuira Tanjuatco. He was a graduate of University of Santo Thomas College of Medicine. Dr. Tanjuatco completed his internship at St. Joseph Hospital in Rhode Island and his residency at Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT. He served at Miller County Hospital from 1977-1979 and Memorial Hospital from 1979 until his retirement in 2001.
Known affectionately as Dr. Tan, he dedicated his life to caring for others as a respected OB/GYN and a beloved member of the community. His faith was an important foundation in his life, and he was actively involved at St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he proudly helped with the building of the education building.
Dr. Tan was a happy, friendly man who never met a stranger. He enjoyed good conversation and had a way of making everyone feel welcome. Outside of work and service, he was on the tennis court. He remained active by working out at the YMCA and courtside coaching his children and grandchildren. Dr. Tan loved reading and was also a wonderful cook, even teaching his wife his ways in the kitchen.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Linda Tanjuatco; his children, Erman & Ginger Tanjuatco and Emil & Sara Beth Tanjuatco; his grandchildren, Joseph, Isabel, Ellie, and Emma Claire; his siblings, Emilianna Tanjuatco and Freda DeLuzuriaga; and his granddogs, Bruno & Rosie. In addition to his parents, Manuel was preceded in death by his siblings, Pedro, Estelita, Zosimo, Angeles, Emilio Jr., Nieves, and Linda.
