Elaine Hutto

Elaine Hutto, 76, of Bainbridge, formerly of Augusta, passed away Thursday, December 25, 2025.

Gladys Elaine Bledsoe was born March 5, 1949, in Meridian, MS, the daughter of Gene & Betty Bledsoe. After high school graduation, Elaine earned Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She retired as director of nursing after working at several rehabilitation facilities in the Augusta area. Elaine was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and loved the Lord with her whole heart.

Elaine was never one to let the grass grow under her feet. She enjoyed being busy which could look like fishing, yard work, clocking hours at one of her multiple jobs (usually held at least two jobs at the time), or providing direction to her daughters. She cared for others and gave of herself without abandon.

Elaine had a special way with animals that seem to draw them to her. Even the fish in her pond would swim to the surface at the sound of her voice. But Gunner knew he was king of the hill regardless of which animal friends visited. Elaine’s world revolved around her girls, and she considered them the greatest gifts she ever received.

Survivors include her girls, Jeana Allen (Mark), Jennifer Gordon (Ken) and Julie Darley (Sonny); her grandchildren, Josh, G.J., Nikki, Kelly, Kendall, Konner, Rebecca, Amanda, Stephanie, Hunter, and Holton; her great-grandchildren, Brennen, Harper, Ellie, Emma, Reid, Tate, Wells, M.E., Kaylee, Annalise, Emmett, Clara, James, and Haden; her sister, Deborah Godwin; the father of her children, T. Paul McGowen; and the love of her life, her dog, Gunner. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Gene Bledsoe & Betty Douglas.
