He produced beautiful pieces that hold special meaning to the recipients. Gil was a member of the Art Guild in Bainbridge, Tallahassee Wood Turners Guild, and Dothan Wood Turners Guild.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Bunny Jones; his children, Teraza Campbell (Craig) of Sharpsburg, GA and Christopher Adam Jones (Jane) of Virginia; his grandchildren, Rylee, Amelia, Adam, David, Christopher, and Brendan; and his siblings, Marilyn Rudat, Bill Jones, and Russ Jones all of Wisconsin, and John E. Jones (Donna) of New Mexico. Gil was preceded in death by his parents.
