Heaven gained the most wonderful angel, but we lost the heart of our family.
Imogene was born in Ty Ty, Georgia; she was the daughter Elton and Geraldine Pope. After her family moved to Tampa, Florida, she married Earl Burt Newsom. Their deep love and affection for each other made them an inseparable couple for over 65 years.
Working hard together they grew their business from hauling produce to growing produce in South Florida. They raised their four kids and many grandchildren, giving them a lifetime of memories. She was a nurturing and loving mother that dedicated herself to the family. She was an amazing cook and seamstresses, who enjoyed Life as a farmer's wife.
She had a smile for everyone, always a funny story, and knew how to find joy and humor in life. Her love for the Lord and family was a constant warm embrace.
Though our hearts are heavy as we walk this sacred time with her, we find comfort knowing that now she will be free from pain and weariness. She will see Papa’s face again, feel his embrace, and know the perfect peace of Heaven.
Nanny, you are so deeply loved, and we don't know how we are going to live in a world without you. Thank you for every moment of grace you’ve given us, every memory we hold dear. As you take each step closer to home, know that you carry our love with you, and you leave your love planted firmly in our hearts.
Survivors include her children, Burt Newsom, Gary & Terri Newsom, and Dan & Faye Newsom; her grandchildren, Jenny & Greg, Sherry, Sonia, Kurt, Brady, Alaina, Alyssa, and Steven; her fifteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; her siblings, Jack Pope and Linda Rhinehart (Rich); and a host of extended family. In addition to her parents, Imogene was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Earl B. Newsom; her daughter, Judy Kay Newsom Hall; her granddaughter, Julie; and her siblings, Ulmer, Marinell, and Betty.
