James Clayton Ulmer was born December 26, 1953, in Cairo, GA, the son of J.T. & Inez Oliver Ulmer. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1971, and earned a certificate from Bainbridge Junior College. James retired from Amoco Fabrics & Fibers and worked for some time afterwards at John B. Sanfilippo & Son. He was Baptist by faith.
Tinkering was not only a pastime, but a way of life for James. He loved everything about an engine and spent hours in his shop building and rebuilding. James was known to fix anything with a mechanical or electrical issue.
He was a homebody who loved a little television (Dr. Who and Star Trek) and spending time outdoors. His radio was often tuned to Gulf 104 where he listened to classic rock, James had a heart for others and found helping people was simply second nature.
Survivors include his son, Clayton Ulmer (Jennifer) of Jacksonville, FL; his granddaughter, Olivia; his sister, Liz Ulmer; his nieces & nephews, Jimmie, Freddie & Emily, and Sara; and a host of extended family. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his sister, Elaine Ulmer Weiss.
