James Allen Womack was born October 1, 1944, in Donalsonville, GA, the son of Emmett & Margaret Oder Womack. He attended Bainbridge High School, and shortly after proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and the Vietnam War. James lived in Florida for forty-plus years and worked as a mechanic for NAPA Auto Parts in Bronson. He was Baptist by faith.

A native of Southwest Georgia, James loved everything about being a "country boy" …camping, fishing, mud bogging, and drag racing. He spent many days in the shop at Womack Transmission learning from his daddy. The result was he could fix anything automotive. This included "fixing" automobiles to win friendly races. James worked for a short time for the Bainbridge police department, and legend has it, this opportunity came about after several wins in the street.

Survivors include his children, Melissa Womack (Keith Davis) of Bainbridge, Latona Williams of Fanning Springs, FL, Grant Womack of Ohio, Jamie Womack (Krista) of Donalsonville, Teresa Lee Spitzer of Mississippi, and Sue Burney (David), Peggy Gregory (Mike), and Lee Spitzer (Teresa Moore) all of Fanning Springs; his twenty-two grandchildren & twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Ann Osborne (Arthur) of Starke, FL, Doyle Womack (Brenda) of Bainbridge, and Peggy Lott (Danny) of Columbus, GA. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia Hunt Womack.
