Jimmy Phillips was born February 19, 1950, in Albany, GA, the son of Willie & Lou Alma Jones Phillips. After high school, Jimmy proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Jimmy worked with Stuckey Construction for 32 years. He was Baptist by faith.
If the task, project, or event involved being outside, Jimmy was all about it. He enjoyed hunting and fishing all over Southwest Georgia. According to Jimmy, the best fishing was on "beautiful Lake Seminole". And though he would hunt anything he considered fit to eat, white-tailed deer was his favorite bag. Jimmy raised chickens and pigeons; the chickens provided eggs for days, and the pigeons proved to be entertaining.
Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Linda Phillips; his children, Wayne Phillips (Daisy) of Four Oaks, NC, Jennifer Phillips (Jamey) of Slocumb, AL, Phillip Grigsby of Whigham, and Robert Grigsby (Wendy) of Tallahassee; his grandchildren, Brandon, Rylie, Kayla, Hunter, Gavin, Andrew, Breanna, and Hunter; his sister-in-law, Lottie Phillips; his daughter-in-law, Christy Phillips; and several nieces & nephews. In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his son, Jimmie Phillips, Jr., and his brothers, Willie "Bill" Phillips and Gene "Herschel" Phillips.
