John Alan Huggins was born September 4, 1951 in Oneonta, AL, the son of Guy & Nettie Ellis Huggins. He married Brenda Justice in 1978. With exception of about four years, John & Brenda lived their entire married life in Bainbridge. John worked with Dynamic Security and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
For sure John knew the true meaning of "rammer jammer yellow hammer" and was the first to yell, "Roll Tide" marking himself as a card-carrying member of the Alabama Crimson Tide fan club. His gift was encouragement and he shared it by being the one who checked on everyone else. He called and visited the sick and shut-in offering them words of hope and inspiration. John was considered a little bossy and quite a micro-manager which meant all details of the project were covered twice. Known to his family as the grill master & chef, even though he never cooked the same thing the same way twice, John could put on a spread. His Boston butts would win awards for the best of the best. He enjoyed reading, watching westerns (especially Gunsmoke), and studying his Bible. John's love for the Lord spilled over into devotion for his family, his church, and his Sunday School class.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Brenda Justice Huggins; his children, Carrie & Allen Jones of Oneonta, AL, Miki & Chad Humphrey of Lavonia, GA, John-Guy & Erin Huggins of Bainbridge, and Kelly Huggins also of Bainbridge; his grandchildren, Corey, Emma Claire, Charlie, Evynn, Emerson, Colson, Layla, Calla, and Brianna; his siblings, Ellis Huggins and his wife, JoAnn, of Decatur, AL, Frances Barnett and her husband, Bill, of Oneonta, AL and Nancy Gentry and her husband, John, also of Oneonta, AL; and a host of extended family. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his siblings, Juanita Buckner and Wayne Huggins.
