Kay German

Katrine I. "Kay" German, 87, of Donalsonville, formerly of Bainbridge, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2024.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ryan Carnes officiating. Interment will follow at Oak View Church of God Cemetery.

Katrine Inez Long was born April 5, 1937, in Bascom, FL, the daughter of Hays & Zorah Guy Long. She lived in Miami and Palm Beach before moving to Southwest Georgia forty or so years ago. Kay retired after many years serving customers at Bainbridge Pharmacy and was a member of Open Arms Ministries.

Painting and gardening kept Kay busy. She enjoyed capturing nature in real time as well as on a canvas. She was an avid reader, never passing up an opportunity to check out a good read. With books, Kay could travel to faraway places and entertain ideas from a variety of perspectives. She held a solid faith and loved her church family as if they were her own.

Survivors include her sister, Barbara Faye Giovengo Chapman; her grandchildren, Joseph, Michael & Carlton; several great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family. In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton F. German; her son, Vance Lamont German; and her siblings, Mary M. Jacob and Gerald "G.W." Long.
