Kristen May Young

Kristen May Young, 52, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022.

Kristen May Young was born June 4, 1969, in Chapel Hill, NC, the daughter of James & Marion Sadler Young. She was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1987. Kristen earned a bachelor's degree from Warren Wilson College and her master's degree and PhD from Georgia Southern University. She was a social studies teacher on the Topaz Team at Bainbridge Middle School.

Kristen had a brilliant mind and wicked sense of humor. She held strong opinions often noted in her spirited delivery with passion and persistence. She devoted her life to instilling a love of learning with her students and served as their advocate on many fronts. She enjoyed reading, traveling (all over the world), and trips to Disney with her best friend, Sue. Kristen was fascinated with animals and fostered many strays (domestic & wild) over the years. Her favorites were Shelby, Coby-James, Bay, Charlee and Sembler which she never fully tamed.

Survivors include her father, Dr. Jim Young; her siblings, Jamie Young of Bainbridge and Jenny & Ridge Harper of Tifton; and her nieces & nephew, Shelby, Coby-James, Bay, Charlee and Sembler. Kristen was preceded in death by her mother, Marion Young.
