Marilyn Kay Maedge was born November 3, 1960, in Troy, IL, the daughter of Ed & Carol Waghorn Maedge. After high school graduation, Marilyn spent a short time in college. She married the love of her life, Van Toliver, in 1982. Together they lived at various duty stations finally making their home in Bainbridge in 1993. Marilyn served “her customers” at Bank OZK for twenty years. She was a Christian by faith.

Marilyn loved the Lord with her whole heart and lived her life as an example of kindness, grace, and unwavering faith. She carried the fruit of the Spirit in everything she did, showing love, patience, gentleness, and compassion to everyone around her. She believed deeply in forgiveness, loved unconditionally, and never entertained gossip or negativity. Her heart was always open to anyone in need.

Helping others brought Marilyn great joy. Whether she was baking cupcakes for childhood cancer fundraisers, supporting cancer patients and families, or quietly stepping in whenever someone needed help, she gave selflessly and without hesitation. She never looked for recognition; she simply loved people well.

Family was the center of Marilyn’s world. She was an excellent wife, a wonderful cook, and the kind of mother who checked in with her children every single day. Her heart’s desire was for her family to stay close and connected. The grandchildren were truly the light of her life, and nothing made her happier than cheering them on, loving them endlessly, and making memories together.

Marilyn proudly supported her grandchildren in all their endeavors from the motocross track to the school track and everything in between. She always admired the beautiful castles in Germany and cherished the memories made traveling there. At home, she enjoyed keeping up with the British royals and listening to the music she loved most, Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks, whose songs always held a special place in her heart.

Survivors include her husband of almost 44 years, Van Toliver; her children, Ava Jo Vervooren (Christopher), Janice Nilson (Anthony), and Savannah Bulger (Cole); her grandchildren, Jaxon, Benelli, Ripp, Madison, Emma, Annie, Noah, Ryder, Holly, and (soon to be born) Brodie; and a host of extended family. In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Maedge.
