Martha Smith Weathersby

Martha Smith Weathersby, 79, of Bainbridge, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2023.

Martha Nell Smith was born August 14, 1943, in Athens, GA, the daughter of Aubrey & Pauline Smith. She graduated from South Cobb High School and moved to Bainbridge in 1975. Martha retired from Amoco Fabrics & Fibers and was a member of West Bainbridge Baptist Church.

Martha loved everything to do with the outdoors. She especially enjoyed fishing and working in her yard. When in full bloom, azaleas and roses served as reminders to others of her nurturing spirit. Martha's favorite place, other than home, was the beach. She could spend hours basking in the majesty while allowing the sounds of the surf to calm her.

Survivors include her son, Benny Weathersby and his wife, Nikie, of Covington, GA; her grandchildren, Brandie & Dylan; her siblings, Sandra Stokes (Bob) of Douglasville, GA and Aubrey Smith (Linda) of Atlanta, GA; several nieces & nephews; and a special friend, David Martin. In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her sons, Weyman Weathersby and Steve Weathersby.
