Melisa Massey Whitaker

Melisa Massey Whitaker, 61, of Bainbridge, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2022.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at Christian Faith Church with Pastor Ron Kirkland officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens with Brian Massey, Jordan Massey, Tye Massey, Kyle Kelley, Stuart Kelley, and Chris Kelley serving as active pallbearers.

Melisa Ann Massey was born October 31, 1961, in Atlanta, GA, the daughter of Ralph & Novelene Holloway Massey. After high school, she earned a certificate in medical transcription from Bainbridge College. Melisa retired from Georgia Department of Transportation. She was a member of Christian Faith Church.

South Georgia living was what Melisa enjoyed most. Even when traveling to the beach or mountains, her heart reminded her "there is no place like home". Melisa's friends and family, especially her church family, were the delight of her being. She was that one friend you could count on no matter the time or the situation. Animals of every description brought a smile to her face as she felt called to love all creatures great and small. Melisa's favorite sport was wrestling; she tuned in several times a week to cheer on Roman Reigns, "The Good Lookingest Thing in the World".

Survivors include her husband, Girard Donald Whitaker; her brother, Keith Massey; her stepson, Joseph Whitaker; and her grandchildren, Kyle and Calbot. Melisa was preceded in death by her parents.
