Michael Allen “Mikey” Rickard, 72, of Lake Seminole, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2026.
Michael was born October 31, 1953, in Owensboro, KY, the son of Herman & Leona Bryant Rickard. For all 72 years, Mikey lived life with a smile, a quick wit, and a sarcastic remark ready for any occasion. An iron worker by trade and a comedian at heart, he never met a situation that couldn't be lightened with a joke. In fact, he was making people laugh as he was stepping into eternity. If Mikey wasn't picking at you, something was wrong, guaranteed. He could dish it out as well as anyone, but he could take it just as well, making him a favorite companion wherever he went.
A simple man who treasured his family above all else, Mikey loved gathering everyone together, especially during the holidays. Thanksgiving was his favorite, and he took great pride in cooking for those he loved. Whether he was tossing corn hole bags, pitching horseshoes, playing a round of golf with a cold beer in hand, settling in to watch the Kentucky Derby (which he never missed) or cheering on his Rams, Mikey enjoyed life's simple pleasures. A gifted artist, he could sketch everything from detailed portraits to playful cartoons. Mikey was the hero of his family, a devoted husband (gave up a scholarship in New York to marry the love of his life), loving dad and granddad, cherished brother, and faithful friend.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Patti H. Rickard; his children, Tonia Gonzales (Mike), Kelly Collins (Sam), and Jay Rickard; his grandchildren, Bridgett, Brett, Ashley, Jessica, Brooklyn, Samantha, Peyton, Laci, Michael, Jessica, and Hannah; his ten great-grandchildren; his siblings, Lana Aubrey and Sue “Becky” Peavyhouse; his best dogs, Simon & Lucy; and a host of extended family. In addition to his parents, Mikey was preceded in death by his brother, R.C. Rickard.
