Patricia Ann Ray was born December 18, 1937, in Barboursville, WV. After high school, Pat attended trade school and worked for many years as an executive housekeeper. In 2006, Pat & Detlef decided to head north after a lifetime on Florida's east coast. Working the aisles at Winn Dixie in Bainbridge gave her the opportunity to meet many new people. Pat was a Christian by faith.
A 100% red head, Pat was like the wind. She loved adventure and was a free spirit. Visiting new places, parachuting, sun bathing, dancing, and most anything else outside captured her attention. Animals played a big role in Pat's life even to the point of testing the limits by riding a bull at River Ranch.
Though the itch to travel was always great, especially to some of her favorite locations like Key West, Pat enjoyed the simple life. When the spirit of adventure was simmering, Pat was working on crochet projects, completing puzzles, or playing board games. The operative to every moment was to have a good time.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Detlef W. Schulze; her children, Vickie L. Runyon of South Point, OH and Sherry L. Mathes of Brinson; her grandchildren, Shawn, Jason, Amy, and Latasha; her great-grandchildren, Cassidy, Miranda, Erica, Leah, Hunter, Justin, Breanna, and Holden; and her seven great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her children, Thomas Alan Mathes, Jr. and Randy Keith Mathes; and her siblings, Frank Ray, Bill Dan Ray, and Peggy Robertson.
