Raymond "Bubba" Mathis, Jr.

Raymond “Bubba” Mathis, Jr., 48, of Brinson, passed away Friday, January 30, 2026.

Raymond Mathis, Jr. was born July 4, 1977, in Americus, GA, the son of Darlene Plunkett & Raymond Mathis, Sr. After high school, he earned a certificate in truck driving and spent his days trucking for Brinson Farm Supply. Bubba was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.

A truck driver by trade and by heart, Bubba truly loved to drive. The miles never felt long to him. Whether behind the wheel of his truck or riding his motorcycle, he found freedom and peace wherever the road led. When he wasn’t driving, he could often be found working on small engines, fishing, or simply enjoying the happiness of others. Watching people have fun brought him genuine joy especially when he initiated the prank. Exceptionally smart and endlessly curious, Bubba had a remarkable memory and could recall nearly everything he read. He was a natural problem-solver, quick-witted, and always thinking.

Survivors include his wife, Pamela B. Mathis; his stepson, Lucas Sandifer (Lindsey); his granddaughter, Grace; his brother, Ruben Mathis (Tessa); and his nephews, Charlie and Adron. Bubba was preceded in death by his parents.
