Rick Mathis, 46, of Brinson, Georgia, passed away on July 9, 2025.

A private graveside service will be held at Oak City Cemetery, with James Earp, Jamie Earp, Hardy Powell, and Dennis Foulk serving as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Bryant Funeral Home. Ricky Dale Mathis Jr. was born on May 19, 1979, in Orlando, Florida, the son of Ricky Mathis Sr. and Peggy Barwick Mathis. Rick was known for his big heart, love for the outdoors, and dedication to hard work, especially his passion for landscaping. He had a deep appreciation for nature, enjoying beach trips, diving, and anything that got him outside. He loved animals and cherished every moment with his family. Rick's favorite meal was simple but comforting, scrambled hamburger meat with mashed potatoes and gravy. He especially loved spending time with his wife, Ashley Miller, and their daughter, Gianna. His joy came from the little things: family gatherings, outdoor adventures, and moments shared with those he loved most. He leaves a hole in the heart of everyone who loved him that no one else can fill.

He is survived by his wife, Ashley Miller; his daughter, Gianna Mathis; his parents, Ricky and Peggy Mathis; his sister, Melissa Mathis; his nephew, Matthew Sanford, and niece, Abigail Sanford; his aunt, Beth Cooper; and his cousin, Jessica Spaulding. Rick was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mack and Lois Barwick, and RJ and Allene Mathis.
