Ruby Lee Brock was born October 11, 1927, in Grady County, GA, the daughter of John Byron & Ruth Hancock Brock. She was a graduate of Cairo High School. She held down the fort at Hooten Candy Company, Perkins Marine, her FRM Store, and even a few school lunchrooms over the years. Ruby was a member of Unity Church of God.
Faith and family were most important to Ruby. She loved the Lord and served Him in many capacities. She took active leadership roles in women's ministries and worked with youth at church, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts. At home, she taught her children the importance of praying and led them to develop their prayer lives. Ruby was a fantastic cook and enjoyed sharing meals with friends and family. Her motto was "there is always a seat at my table" which sometimes meant a big table was required. Every now and then, Ruby would slip off to do a little fishing and would have the dough boy mix ready before the grease got hot.
