Scotty Ray Searan, 72, of Climax, GA, passed away peacefully at his home after a short battle with leukemia.
A memorial service will be held in his honor at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Robin Ryals officiating.

Scotty, affectionately known as "Grumpy", was born October 19, 1952, in Tulsa, OK. He was the son of Bert Bernard Searan and Jeanettia Renfrow Searan. He married Kathy Annette Mitchell on January 26, 1976. Scotty retired from Englehard/BASF after 40 years, last serving as an inside/outside operator.
Scotty enjoyed music especially gospel. He was an avid record collector and could often be heard strumming his guitar and singing a joyful song. Scotty was of the Christian faith and always praised his Lord and shared the gospel. Scotty's greatest gift on earth was his family.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Kathy Searan; his children, Ray Searan and his wife, Donna, of Summerville, SC and Donald Searan and his wife, Jennifer, of Climax; his brother, Amos Searan of Nashville, TN; his sister-in-law, Carolyn Hunt and her husband, Billy, of Grand Ridge, FL; his brother-in-law, Kenneth Mitchell of Grand Ridge, FL; his grandchildren, Jeffrey & Payten Weatherford and Jacob Searan; his great-grandson, J.C. Weatherford; and a host of nieces and nephews. Scotty was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Kay Smith, Nancy Matthews, and Patsy Ruiz; and his brother, Michael Searan.
