Stephen Burnum “Steve” Brock of Bainbridge, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at the age of 72.
He was born March 2, 1954, in Houston, TX, the son of Adolph and Frances Brock. He grew up in Bainbridge, GA, where he developed a lifelong love for the outdoors, aviation, and working with his hands. Steve had an adventurous spirit and appreciation for life’s experiences. Beyond that, he was most at home in the open air, whether hunting in the early morning, tending to cattle, or flying above the countryside he loved. He had a connection to the land and found peace in its rhythms.
Steve loved telling stories and was the master at making a long story short. Laughter was his calling card, and he brought that spirit with him wherever he went. His dogs were constant companions and a source of great comfort and loyalty throughout his life.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy Baker Brock; and his sister, Pamela Brock Searcy. He is survived by his daughter, Meredith Brock Stanfield (Tim); his grandson, Ford; his sister, Kim Brock; and his nieces & nephews, Brock, Sara, Lauren, Anna Beth, and Simpson.
The Brock Family extends their sincere gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at the Memorial Hospital and Manor, Dr. Cochran, and Georgia Hospice Care for the care, dignity, and kindness they showed Steve in his final days.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel, with Chaplain Justin DeVantier officiating. Ramsay Simmons III, Jimmy Rentz, Chip Harrell, Frankie Lavoie, Bobby White, Jimmy Cutchens, Winston Brock, Jr., and Simpson Bowles will serve as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to: Mt. Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department, 180 Davis Road, Bainbridge, GA 39817 or Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, 5008 Vada Road, Climax, GA 39834 or that you spend time outdoors in Steve’s memory.
Steve will be remembered for his independent spirit, his love of the outdoors, a good cigar, and the laughter he shared with those around him.
