Laura Sue Tillery was born November 20, 1950, in Plant City, FL, the daughter of Wesley & Mary Jo Booth Martin. She was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1968, and earned a degree in accounting from Georgia Southwestern. Bainbridge was not only "home" but where Sue raised her family and built a life filled with purpose and resilience. In 1972, Jed met Sue at a VFW dance, and he unapologetically declared, "I am going to marry that girl", and he did just that six months later.
Sue was not one to sugarcoat anything but her loyalty and care for her family & friends ran deep. She showed love with her presence, her strength, and her steadfast support. Though illness limited her in recent years, she remained fiercely devoted to those she loved. For many years, Sue worked at Decatur-Seminole Training Center. Her "kids" from Decatur-Seminole often wound up at her house for fun-filled afternoons. (Sue would swear she didn't have favorites, but Sam Dickson knew better.)
Her strong faith was personal and quiet. As a long-time member of Black Jack Baptist Church, Sue served others through the years in times of celebration and sadness. She enjoyed traveling, especially to the beach, listening to a little Kid Rock, and chuckling over the shenanigans of her children and grands.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Jed Tillery; her children, Ken & Nikki Dollar, Jeff & Sunshine Tillery, and Wesley Tillery; her grandchildren, Jordan, Martin, Dusty & Jessie, Blu, Bo, Wesleigh, Aaron & Roma Dae, and Cody; and her great-grandchildren, Wilder, Monroe, Brodie, Tyler, Layton, Sawyer, Elleigh, Emersynn, Colton, Scarlett, and Maelee. In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her siblings, Randal Martin, Ronnie Martin, and Gail Martin, and her first husband, James Kenneth Dollar, Sr.
The Tillery Family extends their sincerest gratitude to Dr. Cochran, the staff of Gentiva Hospice, and Linda Johnson for their compassionate care.
