Dennis Taylor Brooks was born September 10, 1942, in Panama City, FL, the son of PeeWee & Jackie Taylor Brooks. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1960. Taylor graduated from Louisiana State University of New Orleans with a Master of Fine Arts in Theater and taught at Indiana University before relocating to Brooklyn Heights and Manhattan. Before returning to Georgia, he directed hundreds of plays off-Broadway and founded The Floating Theater and Abingdon Theatre. Regionally, he directed plays across the country, most notably at his beloved Lyceum Theatre in Missouri where he acted and designed sets. He taught Speech Communication at Bergen Community College for 15 years. Throughout his life, he supported his friends, wrote plays, short stories, enjoyed foreign films, music, entertaining his friends and was an avid reader. His many dogs were adored on the streets of New York and his multiple voyages to Italy were shared with his friends by his musical slide shows. He loved his many theater friends and will be sorely missed.
