Waltraut "Trudy" Heitman Handley, 85, of Bainbridge, passed away Monday, August 18, 2025.

The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Roy Matthews officiating. Born of proud German heritage, Trudy carried with her the traditions, values, and quiet strength of her ancestry. Throughout her life, she was known for her wisdom, her courage in the face of challenges, and her natural intelligence that guided not only herself, but also those who were fortunate to know her. A woman of simplicity and grace, she found joy in life's essentials—family, music, and ice cream.

"Oma", as she was affectionately known to the grandchildren, never met a stranger. She enjoyed peaceful rides on the golf cart and watching squirrels play. Oma loved her favorite TV shows, whether cheering on contestants on America's Got Talent, laughing with Steve Harvey, following Live PD, enjoying the thrill of MMA, or encouraging Tiger Woods in his latest round. Her presence was a steady source of comfort and inspiration, and she leaves behind a legacy rooted in love, resilience, and integrity.

Survivors include her children, Charlie Handley and his wife, Denise, and Peggy Richardson and her husband, Bobby; her grandchildren, Ross & Michelle, Brandy, Hannah & Daniel, and Trey; and her great-grandchildren, Serena, Hunter, Khloe, Roman, Vincent, Ryder, and Donovan. In addition to her parents, Trudy was preceded in death by her brother, her two sisters, and her grandson, Michael.
