Vera was a Proverbs 31 woman who spent her life caring for others. A member of Faceville Baptist Church, she had a heart for her family, her community, and her friends. She was an old-fashioned homemaker who took great joy in caring for her children and making sure those around her were looked after. Her home was a place of good food, hard work, and plenty to share.
Vera loved working in her garden, tending both vegetables and flowers. She never kept the fruits of her labor to herself, often sharing fresh vegetables, flowers, and homemade goodies with family, friends, and neighbors. Her fig preserves, pickles, and canned vegetables became well known, and there was always something from her kitchen to send home with someone. She believed in taking care of people, and she did so in the ways she knew best: with a meal, something from the garden, or a helping hand.
Survivors include her children, Nadine I. Brown (Danny) and David Ingram; her grandchildren, Casey & Dennis, Leann & Andy, David Lee, and Loriann & Chris; her great-grandchildren, Dennis, Wyatt, Molly, Reagan, Abigail, and Parker; her siblings, Linda Dozier (Terry), Janice Bryant, Mary Browning (Donnie), and Curtis Willis, Jr.; and a large extended family. Vera was preceded in death by her husband, David L. “Hopper” Ingram; her parents, Norman Cox and Curtis, Sr. & Lillian Willis; and her sisters, Sarah Johnson and Louise Roberts.
