Virginia Dean Wooten, 92, of Bainbridge, passed away Friday, August 29, 2025.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Climax Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Poppell officiating. Interment will follow at Prosperity Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Richard Dean, Otis Dean, Jr., Steve Dean, Kerry Dean, Tom Dean, Stanley Dean, and Gary Dean serving as active pallbearers. Luke Bell, Andrw Avery, Jr., Daniel Avery, Gary Wooten, and Tommy Wooten will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Viriginia was born on September 13, 1932, in Decatur County, GA, the daughter of Donnie David Dean & Lena Rebecca Dollar Dean. She was a 1949 honor graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. Virginia later earned a secretarial certificate from Lively Technical School in Tallahassee, FL. She was employed for many years in clerical positions, retiring from Department of Family & Children Services in 1997.
Virginia was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who loved her family. She was a caring person who was always willing to do for the community and others. She was a member of Climax Baptist Church and the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class. Her hobbies included cooking, gardening, and interior decorating.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Donnie B. Wooten; her parents; her brothers, Lawrence Dean, Otis Dean Sr., Tillman Dean, Douglas Dean, DeWayne Dean, and Cecil Dean; her nephew, Reggie Dean; and her nieces, Barbara Dean Powell and Debbie Dean McEachern.
Survivors include her children, Wayne Wooten (Lorena), Sharon Wendling (Steve) and Deana Switzer (Gregg); her grandchildren, James, Shanna, Blair, Jenna, Erik, Cindy, Mildred, and Stephany; twelve great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces & nephews, and her beloved pet Chihuahua, Bullet.
