W. Wayne Thomas of Climax, passed away on April 27, 2024. More than a year-and-a half later, on January 2, 2026, he was reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, Jacquelyn Swicord Thomas. Together, they shared a lifetime of love, partnership, and devotion that continues to inspire all who knew them.
William Wayne Thomas was born on January 31, 1938, in Climax, GA and was known for his work ethic, his love for his family and church family, and his big heart. He dedicated his life to farming and took great pride in providing for his family. Wayne served on the board for the Flint River Soil & Water Conservation District and was active in the Climax Community Club. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and faithful friend.
Jacquelyn Marie Swicord was born on September 12, 1940, in Climax, GA and was the heart of her home. A gentle soul, sweet like an angel, Jackie’s love for her grandchildren often resulted in pretty much whatever they requested. She enjoyed tending her flower beds, especially the daylilies, bowling in the Thursday morning league, and listening to music. She cared deeply for others and offered a listening ear alongside comfortable conversation. Her love for her family was unwavering, and her presence brought comfort and joy to all who knew her.
Married for 56 years, their lives were woven together through shared faith, family, laughter, and countless memories. Wayne & Jackie worshipped together as members of Pine Forest Baptist Church and served together throughout the community including with Swine Time and the Cedar Grove Cemetery. (One favorite activity was the Ham & Egg Supper.) Though they were separated in passing, their bond was never broken.
Together, they are survived by their daughters, Michelle Rebmann and Allyson Marie Thomas; their grandchildren, Amber, Amy, Cotton & Jake; their great-grandchildren, Giano & Julian; Wayne’s sisters, Lois Thomas Fletcher and Sheila Rentz; Jackie’s sister, Phoebe Brock and her husband, Ronald; and a host of extended family. Wayne & Jackie were preceded in death by their parents, Frank & Nannie Eaton Thomas and Willis & Eris Jones Swicord; their son, Jeff; and their siblings, Frank Thomas, Jr., Jackie Thomas, Ronnie Thomas, Frances Gray, Geraldine Holden, Lamar Swicord, Carol Swicord, and Kermit Swicord.
