Wayne Shepard, 77, of Tallahassee, formerly of Lake Seminole, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2026.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery with Wayne’s grandchildren, sons-in-law, and Tye Piercey serving as active pallbearers.

Robert Wayne Shepard was born February 24, 1949, in Quincy, FL, the son of Winton & Jessie Ray Shepard. He was a graduate of Greensboro High School and attended Pensacola Jr. College and Chipola College. Wayne retired from Gadsden County Board of Education as Director of Facilities. He was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church.

Wayne was easy going and took great pleasure in the simple things in life. He enjoyed fishing, playing a round of golf on a sunny day, and working in his shop. He was a master craftsman known as the guy “who could build anything” with wood. Wayne delighted in spending time with family, especially his beloved Barbara, and cherished the memories made in those moments.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Barbara Salter Shepard; his children, Sherri Poston & Michael Knowles, Tina & Tom Bauldree; Eric & Elaine Smith, and Michael & Melissa Shepard; his grandchildren, Will & Ashley, Marci & Chase, Justin & Lydia, Jacob & Emma, Caleb & Courtney, Gabe & Reilly, Brooklynn, and Cody; his great-grandchildren, Hartley, Averie, J.P., James, and Jack; and his siblings, Carolyn Burns (Steve) and Johnny Shepard (Carol). In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his siblings, JoAnne Wells and Hershel Shepard, and his son-in-law, Ben Poston.
